Is Your Email Contact List a Hot Mess of Duplicate Entries?
Here’s a way to easily remove and declutter your Gmail account.
You can waste a lot of time trying to find the correct email recipient because they have umpteen duplicate listings in your contact folder.
It slows you down and is annoyingly distracting as you try to pick which copy has the right email address, or the right reference notes.
There are a number of different ways you can solve this problem but here’s the easiest.
Start by backing up your contact list. If you don’t have time to do that right away, then remember you can always use Gmails restore contacts tool to recover any important contacts that got deleted. You can restore your contact list to the way it was a few minutes ago, or anytime in the last 30 days.
Do a merge in Google Contacts
The easiest way to rid yourself of duplicate records is to do a quick ‘merge.
First Go to your Gmail Contacts.
1.Click on More
2. Pick ‘Find & Merge Duplicates
It isn’t very intuitive so it doesn’t catch all of the duplicates or listings that are a bit different in content. For example: last name, first name vs first name, last name. Same person, but this one will have to be done manually.
